Bio-essence’s 100 volunteer’s challenge: Bird's nest advancer challenge against any other toner

Apologies for the wait girls, I am officially back blogging again as I finally painstakingly finished my examinations.

To get things started, here is my experience attending one of Bio-essence’s latest 100 volunteers challenge.

Wondering what is Bio-essence up to this time?

It is the introduction of their new Bird's nest nutri-collagen and whitening advancer.

And to really prove to us that it really works and there is no hidden gimmicks in it; they have invited 100 ladies as volunteers to witness whether their existing toner or the Bio-essence’s Bird's nest nutri-collagen and
whitening advancer is better in hydration benefits.

In order to witness the change, all 100 of us were required to bring our existing toner to do a hydration test against the Bio-essence’s Bird's nest nutri-collagen and whitening advancer.

I was really excited and hyped to get chosen as one of the 100 ladies as I have been always a huge fan of bio-essence products.

It was held on a lovely Saturday at the atrium of Tampiness Mall, though travelling over was hell it not dampen my spirits as I was beaming with anticipation.

Once I have reached, I realized that the event grounds were pleasantly decorated and we were all comfortably seated at the table waiting for the challenge to start.

The location was too flooded with curious onlookers and fans of Linda Chung as she would be making an appearance as the spokesperson for Bio-essence.

Meet the 2 lovely emcees for the day, though it was a little disappointing that it was all conducted in Chinese.

Next up is the bubbly and enthusiastic president of L.D Waxson, Dr Tor Lam Huat. I can really feel his passion for Bio-essence from the way he speak and the infallible confidence he exudes.

Throughout his speech, he emphasis that Bio-essence is the number one skincare brand in Singapore while further explaining on why Bio-essence has a more compatible edge when compared to other high end brands.

It is mainly because that they have used high end technology to formulate their products and with note to that, they are not afraid to show users like us that it really works with the Bio-essence’s 100 volunteer’s challenge.

And… the time where every person is waiting, the arrival of Linda Chung, It was a little chaotic with all the cheering and screaming from her fans.

Though I have to admit, that she is prettier in person than what I have imagined from watching all those drama serials. Just look at her fair and flawless looking skin, I bet she is the envy of all the girls at the event.

Getting back to the important bits, the hydration test was to be conducted on both of my hands, 1 side for the Bio-essence’s Bird's nest nutri-collagen and whitening advancer and the other for my toner that I have brought along. 

 Individual containers and droppers were used for higher accuracy as well.

Readings were taken before and after to see the difference in moisture level. I have brought along my Opera toner to be put to the test.

After a quick experiment, there is an improvement of moisture level of a difference of 7.35% as compared to the other hand which I used my existing Opera toner.

You girls probably will be surprised by the big different but guess what, there were others with a 20% increase of moisture level from their readings.

The application of serum seems easily absorbed as well. Not to mention the instant brightening and smoothness I experienced on my hands too.

Ultimately after the 100 ladies are done with their experiments, all 100 of us decided that the Bio-essence’s Bird's nest nutri-collagen and whitening advancer really did make a difference and was happy with the results we witnessed.

And... look at Linda Chung's elated face with the 100% success rate for the day. I just love her million dollar smile.

My everyday blush, Benefit’s Sugar Bomb

Hi girls, I will be going through my examination period at the moment, thus will be slightly slow in updates and reviews.

I hereby express my apologies for the hiatus but I promise that I will be back working at full force at the end of May, wish me great luck in my examinations.

Getting back to the review,

Lately, I have been getting a lot of questions on what I have used to achieve that lovely, sheer looking blush that I don on my cheeks.

And to satisfy all those in curiosity, today I would be sharing about my favorite blush, the Benefit’s Sugar Bomb.

 Four lovely yet versatile colours included, they are able to be use individually or together. This picture is taken under natural light.

 Just look at the lovely and natural looking swatch of the Benefit’s Sugar Bomb on my hand.

The proper application method on using Benefit’s Sugar Bomb:

• Swirl the provided brush once in a gentle circular motion across all the four colours
• Dust off excess powder from the brush for an even application
• Apply in an upwards motion from the apple of your cheeks to the top of your ear area for a more sculpted look (Do not do this if you have a long looking face as it will only accentuate it more)
• Blend well for a natural finish or intensify it with more layers if desired

 Pros

• Convenient as blush applicator is included
• Soft bristle brush provided is of great quality
• Light, lovely scent
• Fine and pigmented powder
• Natural looking and gives a healthier glow to the cheeks
• Apply light and it’s easy to build up intensity
• Long lasting
• Brightens up dull complexion with its pearly shimmers
• Easy to blend
• No allergies or irritation

Cons

• Steep pricing, though I have yet to see the pan after subjecting it to continuous everyday usage
• Bulky package thus difficult to bring around
• Cover is not connected to the main body of the packaging thus making it a little troublesome when I am in a rush.

A simple day look was easily complimented with the healthy glow that was achieved with the help of Benefit’s Sugar Bomb.

Ultimately how the Benefit’s Sugar Bomb fare,

Benefit’s Sugar Bomb have became my daily staple for its natural and not over the top colour that gives me a healthier overall look for my pale looking skin.

I am madly in love with the brush as the soft bristles are gentle on my skin and it does such a fabulous job by effortlessly blending the colour evenly out on my cheeks.

The powder gets picks up easily as well. How I wish that they do individually sells the brush.

Benefit’s Sugar Bomb also contains subtle shimmers that gives definition to my cheeks yet is not loud and fierce. I really love how my cheeks look in the pictures when I am wearing the Benefit’s Sugar Bomb.

It smells great as well, helping to revitalize my senses in the morning when I am all sleepy.

The only fault that I can find with the Benefit’s Sugar Bomb is that the hefty price tag might look intimidating to potential buyers.

Truth to be told as I am a sucker for beautiful packaging, the bulky box can be over look in this situation with its whimsical design.

My Verdict

9.5 out of 10 stars

Will I buy it again?

Definitely yes and I would love to try the rest of Benefit’s range of box powders.

The blush with it’s easy application is really addictive especially when I am rushing for time in the mornings.

Girls, do give it a try at the counters in Sephora, Tangs Orchard, Takashimaya or Robinsons Raffles City.

You will not regret making a trip down when you have experienced such luxurious pampering.

To kick start, the lovely lady in green, Catherine briefs us through of the story and branding of Benefit and why did they actually choose to venture into the skincare line after such a long time.

And... What is Benefit famous for?

Love the whimsical designs for the slides as well, I love that there is always the factor of fun in their presentations.

Did you know that the founders Jean and Jane Ford actually tossed a coin to determine whether they should either take up selling casseroles or makeup?

I am so glad that the final decision was makeup as I am going to be so devastated without my favorite eye primer, the Benefit’s Stay Don’t Stray.

 I just love how tone 1 can be individually used as a highlighter.

 This is how the color reflects on my skin with only 3 swipes for each color.

Recommended application method:

• Gently swirl the provided brush in a circular motion of your desired color on the blush pallet
• Note: The colors can be used individually or together. I strongly recommend swirling all four of them together for a lovely yet natural looking blush
• Tap off excess powder from the brush for a more even application
• Place the brush on the apple of your cheeks and gently brush upwards towards the top of your ear for an instant uplifting effect
• Blend well for a natural looking flush and layer on more for greater intensity as per desired
• Last but not least, rub your palms together and place them on your cheeks to allow better adhesion of the powder

While playing with the DOT DOT Blush Me! Quad, I realized that it is even suitable for loud eye makeup to create a nice complimentary effect. 

For the above look, I have gently swirl all the four colors for a natural look and have used tone 1 as a highlighter for my T-zone, under eye and upper lip area for a more 3-dimensional look.

My thoughts,

The four colors found in the DOT DOT Blush Me! Quad is lovely, wearable and absolutely complimenting for Asian ladies.

As it applies on sheer and is easily intensified, it matches well with a wide range of looks ranging from an outrageous eye makeup or even to a loud lip color.

I love how smooth and fine the powder is as it glides on effortlessly on my cheeks.

I too appreciate the adeptly amount of shimmers as I do not fancy being a disco ball at any time of the day or in the photos.

I find that tone 1, the lightest shade is fantastic as a highlighter with it light pink hue.

Last but not least, the sturdy, sleek and functional packaging with the soft bristle brush applicator is a major plus point.
